The Port Fairy Film Society is a 20 year old Film Society in a small coastal town of 2,500 people in South West Victoria, Australia.

The PFFS became the de facto cinema exhibitor in the 58 year old single screen cinema, the Reardon Theatre, after the private operator quit 5 years ago.
It is run on a not for profit basis by volunteers.

The PFFS has a primary program of 12 monthly Film Society screenings of mainly Australian, independent, arthouse or foreign films, 3 Film Festivals, and for the past 2 years, 2 x 4 film Classic Matinee FS seasons. The Classic Matinees allow our elderly Moyneyana House residents, Day Centre attendees and Senior Citizens Club members who are Film Society members to see Classic films from the 30's 40's 50's and 60's.

During the year, the PFFS also auspices another 14 theatrical Community Fund Raiser screenings for the Community groups such as the Primary Schools, the Red Cross, Local Hospital, Cancer Research, Fire Brigade, RSL, Cycling Club, Book Fair, for appeals for natural disasters such as the Victorian bush fires, the floods in Queensland and Pakistan and so on.

In January each year, the PFFS with the Local Council theatrically screens a program of current Summer Movies on a break even basis, to maintain a 84 year old tradition of "Summer Movies" in Port Fairy.

So our Film Society does a bit to keep Cinema alive and popular as a focus for community activities with something for everyone.
